Paralysis

Paralysis is the loss of a muscle or entire muscle groups, usually as the result of physical injury or disease. It is most often caused by damage to a sensitive part of the central nervous system, such as the brain or especially the spinal cord. It can occur across the entire body (globally), in a certain region of the body determined by muscle group (locally), or follow a set pattern, such as hemiplegia, which affects one side of the body.

Spinal cord injury is linked to paralysis along with other head and neck injuries involving the central nervous system. Spinal cord injuries, especially those involving the lower back and spine, can result in paraplegia, or the complete paralysis of the lower portion of the body. Quadriplegia, or the loss of some or all function in all four limbs, usually occurs after a major injury to the upper spine or neck region of the body.

Those suffering from paralysis use medical tools such as wheelchairs and standing frames to retain mobility and a better standard of living.

If you or a loved one has been paralyzed in an incident that seems to have been someone else's fault, call VanDerGinst Law at 1-866-843-7367 or click here for a FREE online case evaluation. The initial consultation is free of charge. If we agree to handle your injury case, we will work on a contingency fee basis, which means we get paid for our services only if, and when, there is a money recovery for you. In many cases a lawsuit must be filed before an applicable expiration date, known as a statute of limitations. So please call right away to ensure that you do not waive your right to possible compensation.
