Quad Cities Hepatitis A McDonalds
The news of an outbreak of Hepatitis A in the Quad Cities has spread fast.
It now appears that upwards of 10,000 people may have been exposed to the virus during June and July when an infected employee prepared and served food at a Milan McDonalds. It is not known how many people have been infected.
The latest news on this case is the beginning of litigation—one man exposed to the virus has filed suit against the McDonalds restaurant, the operator, and the McDonalds corporation. Many experts feel that this is the beginning of widespread, class-action suits over the incident.
The Rock Island County Health Department has confirmed that an employee continued to work while infected with Hepatitis A. Repercussions continue in the community: a free Hepatitis A clinic at the Health Department, investigation by local and state officials, and questions over the unreported nature of the outbreak in its early stages.
Anyone with Hepatitis A exposure or infection via the Milan McDonalds should seek legal consultation to determine if litigation is warranted.
