Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from VanDerGinst Law!

As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, the entire team at VanDerGinst Law would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to our clients, friends, and communities. It’s a special time of year to reflect on what we’re thankful for, and we’re incredibly grateful for the trust and support you’ve shown us throughout the year. We wish you and your loved ones a joyous holiday filled with good food, laughter, and cherished moments.

While Thanksgiving is a time for joy and celebration, it’s also one of the busiest travel weekends of the year. To help you and your family stay safe this holiday season, we’ve put together a few important safety tips:

Thanksgiving Safety Tips

  1. Travel Safely:
If you’re hitting the road, make sure to plan your route ahead of time, give yourself extra travel time, and be patient. The roads can be crowded, and the risk of accidents increases. Always wear your seatbelt and never drive under the influence.
  1. Kitchen Safety:
Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires. Stay vigilant in the kitchen. Keep flammable items like towels and oven mitts away from the stovetop, and never leave cooking food unattended.
  1. Deep Frying Turkeys:
If you’re deep frying a turkey, make sure to do it outdoors, away from the house. Use a fully thawed turkey and keep a fire extinguisher nearby. Hot oil can be dangerous, so take extra precautions to avoid burns and fires.
  1. Watch Out for Food Safety:
Prevent foodborne illness by cooking your turkey to a safe internal temperature of at least 165°F. Refrigerate leftovers within two hours to keep them fresh and safe to eat later.
  1. Be Mindful of Guests’ Needs:
If you’re hosting, remember to accommodate guests with dietary restrictions or allergies. Label dishes that contain common allergens like nuts, gluten, or dairy to ensure everyone can enjoy the meal safely.
  1. Stay Safe Online:
Planning on shopping Black Friday or Cyber Monday deals? Be cautious when shopping online. Stick to reputable websites, avoid deals that seem too good to be true, and use strong, unique passwords for your accounts.
